My idea for this work was to do something similar to a documentary. I wanted to reveal what it is like coming together in the rehearsal hall as musicians to work up a new song. This is my band doing a cover of an old Talking Heads tune.
I also attempted to employ some of the techniques we have learned about in class. I was especially interested in the concept of Metric and Rhythmic Montage, both with cuts and with special effects. I also explored the use of Overtonal Montage near the end of the piece. I did this by taking the metaphor of the song's title to culmination physically, by means of the use of a special effect with a clip I 'borrowed' from the internet. I had a great time building this movie and it took many, many hours. It is 7:34 long, so I have posted an HD version and an SD version. Use your discression according to your processor's speed. Enjoy.

Oops...meant to comment here, not on YouTube! I liked your video Greg. I enjoyed the creative elements, the fire clip, and the mutation of color balance... It's pretty cool what can be done with just two cameras rolling eh!
ReplyDeleteI liked how you utilized both iPads it's substitutites for cameras and how you kept switching view points. How did you add the fire at the bottom ? Genius !
