Metaphors on Vision

I love the continuation of the theme of the ‘language’ of cinema. So much can be communicated by the visual aspect of the art alone. It can bring about the emotion and deep-seated feelings of an individual while leaving him unaware that it has done so. He believes that this ‘language’ is still yet unexplored, much like the West Indies in the days of Columbus. I did not understand this concept on September 5th of this year. Now I begin to examine the philosophy, and to embrace it.
I certainly do not agree with everything these artists stipulate, for instance in the ‘Metaphors on Vision’ piece, I find he has gone too far when he claims that “It is a time haunted by sexual sterility yet almost universally incapable of perceiving the phallic nature of every destructive nature of itself.” Perhaps that sentiment is not universal merely due to the fact that it is untrue. When writers or speakers use the concepts of ‘never’ and ‘always’ I almost certainly will fill with reservations. This is the beauty of knowledge and learning, you take what you can use, and leave the rest.
